Andreas Salcher
Andreas Salcher earned a PhD in business administration at the University for Business Administration in Vienna, completed an Executive Program at Harvard University and visited numerous Tibetan monasteries.
He aims to conflate mankind's ancient teachings of wisdom and the most advanced management concepts. For many years, he has developed exceptional conferences, workshops, and seminars for international companies with his consulting company. His innovative concepts make him a sought-after speaker at management conferences in Europe and the U.S. Top politicians and managers seek his advice as a personal coach.
Dr. Salcher, who has always been involved in politics, too, began his career as the Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Vienna ÖVP (Austrian People´s Party). In 1987 he became the youngest member to be elected to the Vienna State Parliament, whose member he remained over a period of 12 years. During the term of Dr. Peter Marboe, City Councillor of Culture, he was the Chairman of the Vienna City Culture Committee.
After a meeting with Sir Karl Popper in 1993, Andreas Salcher co-founded with Bernhard Görg Austria's first school for the highly gifted, the "Sir Karl Popper School", and has been its honorary Executive Vice-President up to this day. In 2008, the "Sir Karl Popper School" will celebrate its tenth anniversary and is today among the top three schools for highly gifted children in Europe.
In 2004 Andreas Salcher founded together with Gundula Schatz the "Waldzell Meetings" at Melk Abbey in Lower Austria, which have grown into an internationally acclaimed dialog between artists, moral authorities, and scientists. To date, the list of speakers includes seven Nobel laureates, spiritual leaders such as the Dalai Lama, artists like Christo and JC, Paulo Coelho, Frank Gehry, Isabel Allende, along with some of the foremost scientists of our time such as Robert Gallo, Carl Djerassi, Paul Nurse, Gunter Blobel, Kary Mullis, Craig Venter, and Anton Zeilinger (link www.waldzell.org)
After the fourth Waldzell Meeting in 2007, which met with a very positive reception at both national and international level, Dr. Salcher decided to leave Waldzell and to launch a new project with the working title "THE CURRICULUM PROJECT - Creating the Schools of Tomorrow". The mission of this new project is to reinvent the school of tomorrow in cooperation with the world's brightest minds. He has the vision to narrow the gap between the contents children all over the world learn everyday at school and those they would actually need for their future.
His first book THE TALENTED KID AND HIS ENEMIES, which came out in March 2008, was among the top five of almost all best-seller lists in Austria. The work examines the current debate over the school system from the entirely neglected perspective of the talented child and has provoked a wide-ranging discussion about values and how to deal with talents in our society. Andreas Salcher’s new book THE WOUNDED HUMAN starts selling on 6 March 2009.
About Andreas Salcher
Christoph Leitl

"Andreas Salcher successfully caters for a niche--just as BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM does. His domain is combining very different
disciplines such as art and business. During our last BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM Group Meeting 2004 we were given the opportunity
to see how the Andreas Salcher Company is working. A convincing concept and a professional moderation with four renowned
artists motivated our managers to contemplate new approaches, and at the same time they were able to live the feeling
of togetherness within our international group. Our 180 top international managers took part in the last BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM
Group Meeting 2004, which had the motto "The Art of Materializing Visions". These two days were quite extraordinary,
and our memories of them are lasting and very fine."
